Gubahmi means "beef noodle soup" in Taiwanese. To many Taiwanese, beef noodle soup is more than just a dish—it’s a cultural symbol. This comforting bowl of noodles carries the warmth of home, the vibrancy of bustling street markets, and some of the most cherished memories of our lives.
When I moved to Canada, I discovered the rich diversity of cuisines here. But I also noticed the absence of that familiar, deeply comforting Taiwanese flavour. That’s when I decided to create Gubahmi—to bring this classic Taiwanese culinary experience to Ottawa and share it with a wider audience.
I’m Jackie, the founder of Gubahmi. I was born and raised in Taiwan in a family that loves food and sharing meals. To me, beef noodle soup isn’t just about nourishment; it’s about connection. Gubahmi,在台語裡的意思是「牛肉麵」。對台灣人來說,牛肉麵不僅僅是一道美食,更是一種文化的象徵。這碗麵裡,承載了家的溫暖、街頭的煙火氣息,以及我們記憶中最美好的時光。
當我移居到加拿大時,我發現這裡擁有豐富多元的美食文化,但卻少了那碗熟悉而充滿安慰的台灣味道。於是,我決定創立 Gubahmi,將這份經典的台灣美食帶到渥太華,與更多人分享這份來自家鄉的感動。
